CRAFTING MY OWN STATEMENT

By Ishita Katoch

Fashion and luxury aren’t just about brands or the latest trends they’re about self-expression. Since childhood, fashion has always been a part of my life. Being a single child, I had a lot of time to myself, and I would often play dress-up, draping my mom’s dupatta like a saree, and twirling around in the room, like I was in a movie. Not much has changed, I’m still the girl who loves to get ready, just to dance in front of the camera.

I’ve always liked fashion, not the type that runs after big logos or price tags, but the kind that makes me feel powerful. I never cared about wearing something just because it was expensive or trending. I believe fashion isn’t about showing off, it’s about expressing who you are, fully and confidently. I choose pieces that feel good, that reflect who I am.

Even when I’m just in an oversized hoodie, if it brings me comfort or lifts my mood, that’s enough. I love wearing long, colourful dresses, they flow with my energy and make me feel alive. And wearing a saree? That’s very close to my heart. It connects me to my culture, and every time I wear one, I feel strong and graceful, like the best version of myself.

Now that I’m not a teen anymore, I’ve realised how confident I feel when I wear Indian clothes. Whether it’s a kurta or a simple suit, there’s something about it that makes me feel graceful and proud. It’s like I’ve found my comfort zone in my culture, and nothing feels more empowering than that.
